On a recent short trip to Cleveland, the midwestern city was bursting with life.

Flowers bloomed, restaurants were filled with outdoor diners and the Cleveland Museum of Art had masked art patrons enjoying the quiet galleries on a rainy day.
Food to Go

Root Cafe, a vegan and vegetarian restaurant, had take out only. I had the sweet potato sammy, a vegan sandwich with sweet potato, caramelized onion, vegan cashew cheddar, avocado and spinach. Root Cafe uses organic veggies and locally made whole grain bread. The sandwich was delicious.
Bakery time

Blackbird Baking Company is the place to go for bread and pastries. Everything at Blackbird is vegan or vegetarian, and there are a few gluten free items. We had a focaccia with caramelized onions and Brussels sprouts.
Outdoor time

Cleveland Metroparks include lakefront parks, hiking trails and playgrounds. I saw sunsets and flowers on runs along the water.
